Infant girl found in box in good health

OCALA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) - A baby girl found abandoned in a box in Ocala is in good health. Ocala Police say the white baby girl was found Saturday when a man driving by and observed the baby's hand sticking out of the top of a box.
Doctors say the baby was less than a week old when found. She was taken to a hospital for observation and later placed into the custody of the Department of Children and Families. Now, police are hoping to find her parents or identify the baby.
On Saturday around 5:07 p.m. the man was driving at the intersection of North West 24 Avenue and 17 Street when he observed the baby's hand sticking out of the top of a cardboard box. The driver immediately called 911. Police and EMS responded to the scene and the baby was taken to the hospital for examination.
A blanket, an article of clothing and a diaper were in the box with the baby.
Department of Children and Family Investigators responded and took custody of the child. Right now, investigators on the case are trying to identify a suspicious suspect and vehicle that was seen in the area on Friday at approximately 7:30 PM.
