TRENTON, N.J. (WPIX) - The ringleader of a sex-trafficking ring based out of Jersey City - who reportedly lured women into the operation from all over the state - has been indicted, according to law enforcement officials.
Allen Brown, 47, of Jersey City, is accused of tricking women as young as 17 years of age, from all over New Jersey including: Camden, Atlantic City, Elizabeth, Newark and even from as far away as Philadelphia. He and six of his so called assistants - who are also facing criminal charges - allegedly forced the women into prostitution with the promise of money, lavish trip to Manhattan, and "the good life."
According to Attorney General Anne Milgram, the ring, dubbed 'Operation Red Light' by investigators, has been in operation for nearly 20 years. Milgram said Brown often forced the women to use drugs, including heroin and cocaine, in order to gain control over them.
Brown, who also goes by the name "Prince," was indicted on first-degree charges of human trafficking, racketeering, and money laundering among other charges. He is currently being held in Hudson County Jail on $325,000 bail.
Brown's mother and niece, who were also apparently part of the operation, are facing criminal charges. Additionally, an eighth person has reportedly pleaded guilty in the case.
