ORLANDO, Fla. --
Police named James Hataway the prime suspect in the disappearance of Tracy Ocasio.
Ocasio's family said they believe Hataway had something to do with Ocasio's disappearance, and authorities said they agree, but there's not enough evidence to prove it.
"He was the last person with her. We know he drove home with her. We know we interviewed him. We know he lied about what he was doing with her," Ocoee Police Department Detective Mike Bryant said.
The 27-year-old Ocoee woman vanished just after midnight on May 27, 2009, after watching an Orlando Magic game at a bar in MetroWest. Authorities said she was seen leaving with Hataway.
"Hataway is the one who doesn't have an alibi. He's the one who gave us a false alibi ... He drove her home, and he's just where everything is pointing right now," Bryant said.
Ocasio's father said it doesn't seem like it has been a full year since his daughter's disappearance.
"We're not going to let it die, so that's why we're here," Joe Ocasio said.
"We have two of her friends here. We've kept in contact with them a lot. They help us get through it, too," mother Liz Ocasio said.
Until Wednesday, Hataway was only regarded as a person of interest in the case. He remains at the Seminole County Jail on charges in an unrelated attempted murder case.
Detectives said they haven't pushed forward yet for prosecution. They said as long as Hataway remains jailed, they can work to develop their case.
"We know where he is. He's not going to run. We're not going to lose him. We know we can use this time to try to find more evidence. We can use this time to really find Tracy," Bryant said.
Next weekend, June 5-6, Central Florida Search and Rescue will help look for Tracy Ocasio once more.
