Missing Gabriel Richard student who was subject of Amber Alert home safe

A student at Ann Arbor's Father Gabriel Richard High School who has been missing since early Monday is now safely home.

Principal Brian Wolcott told The News at 10:20 a.m. Thursday that he'd just gotten the news that 15-year-old Justin Wainwright is home in Plymouth Township.

According to a Detroit newspaper, classmates say the teen possibly left the state with an 18-year-old friend because he was upset upon learning he was about to switch schools.

His absence was discovered about 6:30 a.m. Monday when his parents found a note he left on his bed saying he needed a vacation and would return soon.

An Amber Alert was issued after Wainwright went missing, and authorities said earlier today that the bulletin resulted in calls from six states.
