Criminal charges may be sought in AMBER Alert case

Plymouth Township detective Sgt. Steve Rapson reported at conference that Justin Wainwright, 15, and his close friend Joshua Zohr, 18, were both questioned individually and released.

Rapson declined to provide details other than the investigation is ongoing. Prosecutors as early as next week will decide if criminal charges will follow.

"They are back and safe. It was the best outcome," he said. "We have everything we need. We'll talk to prosecutors, provide what we have and if they recommend charges, that's up to them. They'll do their job and we'll do ours."

When asked if investigators hastily issued an alert Rapson stated "Based upon the information (we had) at that time, it was the right thing," he said. "I'd do the same thing again".
